A number of factors are changing the way people prepare or take care of themselves during retirement. People are living longer than ever before and most want to stay in their own homes for as long as possible. Advice on funding old age can be obtained from multiple sources – confusion and contradiction abound.

In light of this, Anchor Trust had a requirement to explore the possibilities of introducing an Independent Financial Advice service to advise older consumers on financing care, housing and support during their retirement years.

FDS ran a deliberative poll with an audience which included:

• People aged 75+ living in their own home
• People aged 60+ living in their own home
• Children with parents aged 75+ living in their own home
