The Sunday Times Best Green Companies Awards of 2008 took place on the 14th of May on London's South Bank. Munro Global companies, FDS International and Maven Research, collaborated in designing a web-based survey programme and were responsible for data collection and analysis, as well as managing all companies through the submission process.

The awards are based on two data sets for each company.  Hard measures such as carbon footprint, waste production and recycling levels are combined with responses from an employee survey which probes for attitudes and behaviour towards the environment.

Will Ullstein of Munro Global said: “This survey offers an unparalleled insight into how deeply environmental issues have permeated a company’s structure.  It provides a benchmark for corporate environmental performance as well as identifying what staff are thinking and what action they are taking on the shop floor.”

“Results demonstrate that many companies have a huge potential resource in their staff, who clearly have the will and inclination to make their company even greener.”

The 50 Best Green Companies in Britain are revealed in the inaugural Sunday Times Green List published with The Sunday Times this Sunday, May 18.

“It is crucial for the Carbon Trust to keep up to date with UK business’ attitudes towards climate change and plans they have in place to address the issue.  The FDS report delivered excellent insight and complements existing tools we use to keep our finger of the pulse.”
